Frequently asked questions

What is Dymista Nasal Spray?
Dymista Nasal Spray is a combination medication used to treat symptoms of hay fever (allergic rhinitis). It contains two active ingredients: azelastine, an antihistamine, and fluticasone, a corticosteroid. Together, they help reduce inflammation and allergic reactions in the nasal passages.
Dymista works by combining the effects of azelastine, which blocks histamines that cause allergic reactions, and fluticasone, which reduces inflammation. This dual action helps alleviate symptoms such as sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, and itchy or watery eyes.
Dosage: Follow your doctor’s prescription. Typically, adults and children over 12 years old use one spray in each nostril twice daily. Administration: Shake the bottle gently before each use. Blow your nose gently, then spray into each nostril while breathing in gently. Avoid spraying into your eyes or mouth. Consistency: Use it regularly for the best results, even if you feel better.
Dymista may start to relieve symptoms within 30 minutes to a few hours after use. Regular use as prescribed will help maintain symptom relief.
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not use a double dose to make up for the missed one.
Nosebleeds Nasal dryness or irritation Headache Bitter taste in the mouth Drowsiness These side effects are usually mild and temporary.
Serious side effects are rare but can include: Severe nosebleeds Nasal ulcers Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing) Vision problems Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of these symptoms.
Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements. Dymista can interact with certain medications, including other antihistamines and corticosteroids.
Dymista may not be suitable if you have: Severe liver disease Recent nasal surgery or injury Untreated nasal infections Allergic reactions to azelastine or fluticasone Consult your doctor to ensure Dymista is safe for you, especially if you have any underlying health conditions.
While moderate alcohol consumption is generally safe, alcohol can increase the risk of side effects such as drowsiness and dizziness. It’s best to avoid or limit alcohol intake while using Dymista.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication out of reach of children and pets. Do not freeze.
Yes, certain lifestyle changes can help manage hay fever symptoms: Avoid known allergens (e.g., pollen, dust mites, pet dander) Keep windows closed during high pollen seasons Use air purifiers to reduce indoor allergens Regularly clean your home to minimize dust and mold Always consult your doctor for personalized advice and before making any significant changes to your lifestyle or treatment regimen.
Dymista Nasal Spray is generally safe for long-term use when taken as prescribed. Regular check-ups with your doctor are recommended to monitor your health and ensure the medication remains effective and safe for you.
If Dymista Nasal Spray doesn’t relieve your hay fever symptoms, contact your doctor. They may adjust your dose or recommend alternative treatments. Always follow your doctor's instructions and recommendations for the safe and effective use of Dymista Nasal Spray for hay fever.
