Frequently asked questions

What is Fexofenadine?
Fexofenadine is an antihistamine medication used to treat symptoms of allergies and hay fever, such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the throat or nose.
Fexofenadine works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms. By preventing histamine from binding to its receptors, fexofenadine helps reduce the symptoms of allergies and hay fever.
Dosage: Follow your doctor’s prescription. The typical dose for adults and children over 12 years old is 60 mg twice daily or 180 mg once daily. Administration: Take the tablet with water. Avoid taking it with fruit juices (such as apple, orange, or grapefruit juice) as they can decrease the effectiveness of the medication. Timing: Take it at the same time each day for consistent relief.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time to make up for a missed one.
Headache Drowsiness (though less common compared to other antihistamines) Nausea Dizziness These side effects are usually mild and temporary.
Serious side effects are rare but can include: Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing) Severe dizziness Difficulty breathing Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of these symptoms.
Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements. Some medications and substances can interact with fexofenadine, including: Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium Fruit juices (e.g., apple, orange, grapefruit) Other antihistamines
Fexofenadine may not be suitable if you have: Kidney disease A history of allergic reactions to antihistamines Pregnancy or breastfeeding (consult your doctor for advice) Always consult your doctor to ensure fexofenadine is safe for you, especially if you have any underlying health conditions.
While moderate alcohol consumption is generally safe, alcohol can increase the risk of side effects such as drowsiness and dizziness. It’s best to avoid or limit alcohol intake while taking fexofenadine.
Fexofenadine usually starts to work within one hour of taking it, with peak effects occurring within 2-3 hours. Relief from symptoms can last for 24 hours.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication out of reach of children and pets.
Yes, certain lifestyle changes can help manage allergies and hay fever: Avoid known allergens (e.g., pollen, dust mites, pet dander) Keep windows closed during high pollen seasons Use air purifiers to reduce indoor allergens Regularly clean your home to minimize dust and mold Always consult your doctor for personalized advice and before making any significant changes to your lifestyle or treatment regimen.
Fexofenadine is generally safe for long-term use when taken as prescribed. Regular check-ups with your doctor are recommended to monitor your health and ensure the medication remains effective and safe for you.
If Fexofenadine doesn’t relieve your allergy or hay fever symptoms, contact your doctor. They may adjust your dose or recommend alternative treatments. Always follow your doctor's instructions and recommendations for the safe and effective use of Fexofenadine for allergies and hay fever.
