Frequently asked questions

What is Nasonex and how does it work?

Nasonex is a nasal spray containing mometasone furoate, a corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation in the nasal passages. It works by decreasing your body's allergic response, providing relief from hay fever symptoms like congestion, sneezing, and runny nose.

Use Nasonex as directed by your healthcare provider, typically one or two sprays in each nostril once daily. Shake the bottle well before each use, and prime the spray if it's the first time you're using it or if it hasn't been used for a while. It’s important to use it consistently for the best results.

Nasonex may start to relieve symptoms within 12 hours, but full effectiveness can take up to two days of regular use. For best results, continue using it as prescribed even if you start feeling better.

Common side effects of Nasonex include headache, nosebleeds, sore throat, and mild irritation or dryness in the nose. These are usually mild and temporary. If you experience any severe side effects, such as difficulty breathing or persistent nosebleeds, contact your doctor immediately.

Nasonex is safe for long-term use under the guidance of a healthcare provider, especially during allergy seasons. However, it’s important to follow your doctor's instructions and have regular check-ups to monitor your condition.

Nasonex is approved for use in children for treating hay fever. However we cannot supply this medication for under 18s on our service, you must see your GP.

Nasonex can often be used alongside other allergy treatments, such as antihistamines or decongestants, but you should consult your healthcare provider to ensure there are no interactions or contraindications.

Store Nasonex at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children, and do not use the spray after the expiration date printed on the package.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.
