Frequently asked questions

What is Aldara used for?

Aldara sachets are used to treat genital warts. They contain imiquimod, an immune system enhancer that helps your body fight the human papillomavirus (HPV) responsible for the warts.

Aldara works by stimulating your immune system to target and eliminate HPV. Applying the cream to the warts helps reduce their size and number by enhancing the body’s natural defenses.

Application instructions:

  1. Before going to bed, wash and dry the application area.
  2. Open a Aldara cream sachet and squeeze some Aldara cream onto your fingertip. One sachet contains enough cream to cover an area of 20 cm2 or approximately 3 square inches.
  3. Apply a thin layer of Aldara cream to the affected area, gently rub until the cream has soaked in.
  4. Following application, throw the sachet away and wash your hands thoroughly.
  5. After 6-10 hours, wash the application area with warm, soapy water.

Imiquimod (Aldara) cream should be applied 3 times per week (example: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; or Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) prior to normal sleeping hours, and should remain on the skin for 6 to 10 hours. Imiquimod cream treatment should continue until the clearance of visible genital or perianal warts or for a maximum of 16 weeks per episode of warts.

Imiquimod (Aldara) cream should be applied in a thin layer and rubbed on the clean wart area until the cream vanishes. Only apply to affected areas and avoid any application on internal surfaces. Imiquimod cream should be applied prior to normal sleeping hours. During the 6 to 10 hour treatment period, showering or bathing should be avoided. After this period it is essential that imiquimod cream is removed with mild soap and water. Application of an excess of cream or prolonged contact with the skin may result in a severe application site reaction. A single-use sachet is sufficient to cover a wart area of 20 cm2 (approx. 3 inches2). Sachets should not be re-used once opened. Hands should be washed carefully before and after application of cream.

If you miss a dose, apply the cream as soon as you remember. If it’s close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed application and resume your regular schedule. Do not apply extra cream to make up for a missed dose.

Improvement can typically be seen within a few weeks of using Aldara. However, the full treatment duration may be up to 16 weeks. Continue using the cream as prescribed by your healthcare provider for the best results.

Possible side effects include local irritation, redness, or swelling at the application site. Some users may also experience itching or a rash. If you experience severe reactions or symptoms that concern you, contact your healthcare provider.

Aldara is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without consulting your healthcare provider. Discuss any potential risks and benefits with your doctor before starting treatment.

Store Aldara sachets at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep them in their original packaging and out of reach of children. Check the expiration date and do not use the cream past this date.

Aldara sachets can be purchased from various London pharmacies. Many pharmacies offer same-day delivery services, providing a convenient option for obtaining your genital warts treatment quickly such as Kings Pharmacy.

Opting for a reputable London pharmacy ensures you receive genuine Aldara with the added benefit of fast delivery. Many pharmacies offer same-day delivery, which helps you start your genital warts treatment promptly and efficiently.
