Curanail is an antifungal nail lacquer used to treat mild to moderate fungal infections of the fingernails or toenails. It works directly on the nail to kill the fungus and stop it from spreading.
The active ingredient, amorolfine, belongs to a group of medicines known as antifungals. It destroys the fungal cell membrane, which clears the infection over time as the healthy nail grows out.
Curanail is usually applied once a week to the affected nail or nails. It’s important to continue using it regularly until the infection has cleared and a new, healthy nail has fully grown.
Fingernail infections generally take about 6 months to clear, while toenail infections may take up to 9 to 12 months. Continue treatment for the full duration, even if you see improvement earlier.
No. You should not use cosmetic nail polish or artificial nails during treatment, as they can stop the antifungal medicine from working effectively.
Before applying, file down the infected nail (especially on the affected areas), clean and dry it thoroughly. Use the provided reusable applicator to apply a thin layer of the lacquer over the entire surface of the nail.
No. Curanail is designed for nail infections only. For fungal infections of the skin, speak to your pharmacist about a suitable antifungal cream or spray.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using Curanail. Limited data are available on its safety in these situations.
Apply the lacquer as soon as you remember, then continue with your usual weekly schedule. Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose.
Continue using Curanail until the infected part of the nail has grown out and a healthy nail has replaced it. If there is no improvement after 3 months, or if the infection appears to be spreading, seek medical advice.
