Telfast 180mg is licensed for chronic idiopathic urticaria rather than hay fever. Fexofenadine 120mg is the strength normally used to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Take one 180mg tablet once daily with water before a meal, unless your prescriber gives you different instructions. Swallow the tablet whole and do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Telfast usually begins relieving symptoms within approximately one hour. Its antihistamine effect can last for around 24 hours.
Telfast is classed as a non-drowsy antihistamine, but some people may still experience drowsiness, sleepiness or dizziness. Check how it affects you before driving or operating machinery.
Indigestion remedies containing aluminium or magnesium can reduce the amount of Telfast absorbed. Leave approximately two hours between taking Telfast and one of these indigestion remedies.
Take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.
Common side effects can include headache, drowsiness, nausea and dizziness. Uncommon effects can include tiredness and sleepiness. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if a side effect concerns you or does not improve.
Stop taking Telfast and seek urgent medical help if you experience swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, chest tightness, difficulty breathing or another sign of a serious allergic reaction.
