High fluoride toothpaste contains more fluoride than standard adult toothpaste and is used to help prevent and treat dental caries in people at increased risk of tooth decay. This product is available in 2800ppm and 5000ppm strengths.
The 5000ppm strength contains more fluoride and is generally intended for people with a greater risk of tooth decay. It also has different age restrictions and directions. Our prescriber will assess which strength is suitable for you.
Apply a ribbon to your toothbrush and brush carefully for approximately one minute, morning and evening. Spit out after brushing and do not swallow. For the best results, do not rinse, eat or drink for 30 minutes afterwards.
Apply a ribbon of paste to your toothbrush and brush carefully for approximately three minutes, three times daily, preferably after meals. Spit out after brushing and do not swallow.
Yes. High fluoride toothpaste should normally replace your regular toothpaste while you are using it. Do not use both toothpastes during the same brushing session.
Tell your dentist, pharmacist or prescriber if you use fluoride tablets, drops, mouth rinses, gels, varnishes or other prescribed fluoride products. Your total fluoride intake may need to be assessed before treatment is approved.
Do not swallow high fluoride toothpaste. If you accidentally swallow a large amount or develop symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or abdominal pain, contact NHS 111 or seek medical advice promptly.
The manufacturer, packaging and tube size may vary depending on availability. You will receive a UK-licensed high fluoride toothpaste in the strength approved by the prescriber.
Yes. Both 2800ppm and 5000ppm high fluoride toothpastes are prescription-only medicines. You must complete an online clinical assessment before our prescriber can determine whether treatment is suitable.
