Lyclear Permethrin 5% Cream is used to treat scabies by killing the mites that cause the infection. It is applied to the skin and left on for a set period before washing off. Suitable for adults and children over 2 months of age. Always read the leaflet before use.

Lyclear Permethrin Cream contains permethrin 5%, an insecticide that works by paralysing and killing scabies mites and their eggs. Scabies is a contagious skin condition that causes intense itching, particularly at night, and a rash with small red bumps or lines.
The cream should be applied to the entire body, including areas that may not appear affected, as mites can be present without visible symptoms. Close household contacts and sexual partners are usually advised to be treated at the same time to prevent re-infestation.
Itching may continue for several weeks after successful treatment. This does not necessarily mean the treatment has failed and is often due to an allergic reaction to dead mites.
What is Lyclear Permethrin Cream used for?
It is used to treat scabies, a skin infestation caused by mites.
Who can use it?
It is suitable for adults and children over 2 months of age. Always follow age-specific instructions in the leaflet.
How do I use it?
Apply the cream to clean, dry skin over the entire body (including between fingers and toes, under nails, and skin folds). Leave on for the time stated in the leaflet, usually 8–12 hours, then wash off.
Do I need to repeat the treatment?
A second application may be recommended after 7 days in some cases. Follow the leaflet or healthcare professional advice.
Why am I still itching after treatment?
Itching can continue for 2–4 weeks after treatment and does not usually mean scabies is still present.
Do other people need treatment too?
Yes. Close contacts should usually be treated at the same time, even if they do not have symptoms.
Are there any side effects?
Some people may experience mild skin irritation, burning, or itching. These effects are usually temporary.
What should I do if symptoms don’t improve?
If symptoms persist or worsen after treatment, consult your GP or pharmacist for further advice.
